Game 8

TC Strikers  4   TC Earthquakes  0

Way to bounce back from the last game girls!  Our defense played a really sound game and cleared effectively to the outside where the wings could get the ball.    Everyone seemed to play their position and stayed away from each other for the most part which was awesome.  We got called for being offsides three or four times, but us coaches would rather see that than four of you clumped together in the middle of the field.   We advanced the ball effectively up the sides while on the attack and we had several really nice long passes through their back line that our forwards were able to run onto.  We got aggressive and took it to them.  I hope you girls enjoyed that game and will carry it forward to the next game.  We have yet to win two games back-to-back so hopefully we can accomplish that on Tuesday.

Game 7

"Pink Ninjas"  3    TC Strikers 0

We were soundly defeated and outclassed in this game.  The Ninjas worked great as a team and moved the ball around and applied pressure as soon as we took possession.  I believe we only created two chances the entire game and our defense was on their heels the entire time.  Not pretty!  However, it provided an opportunity to learn what it takes to beat a good team.  We have to bring effort to every game if we are to be successful.  Perhaps we will be afforded a second game against them in the playoffs to see if we have improved.

Game 6

TC Strikers   3       SC Hurricanes 0

Good game girls!  I made you dribble before you could pass and it paid dividends.  We broke down the defense and it opened up passing lanes.  The forwards and midfielders made some very nice passes and crosses which resulted in chances. That is all we can ask for.  Hopefully, somebody will put it in the net.  Congrats to Lynn, Jane, and Ellie for scoring goals.

Game 5

Clover Hurricanes  1      TC Strikers  0

We fought hard and had our chances, but it was not destined for us to score.  You girls played hard and with passion and that is what is important.  Next game on Saturday.

Game 4

TC Strikers 2      TC Blue Lightning  1

Awesome game girls.  I thought this was the best, most complete game we have played so far.  The defense did a really good job of taking care of the ball and clearing to the side.  Midfielders and forwards did s good job of staying wide and passing through the defense while the backside wings did a good job of getting to the back post to clean up any crosses that made it through.  Jordan was a trooper and played goalie although she was in pain and couldn't move much.  Thanks Jordan!  Lynn and Jane scored and we could have scored a few more times if we would just keep running on the backside of the action.  You never know when you will get a "gift" deflection off of a defender right in front of you to net.  We'll work on it.

Game 3

Fort Mill Thunder 3     TC Strikers  2

Good game girls!  We battled and hung in there until the end, but the Thunder were too much.  Shout out to Lynn for scoring both goals.  We had moments where we pushed the ball up the field well on the outside and made a couple of nice crosses.  We just have to keep moving and trying to get into position to receive the ball and good things will happen.

Game 2

Strikers 1    SC Hurricanes  1

The game that got away.  Once again we won the time of possession by a big margin and pressed the attack the whole game.  We had our opportunities to score and were able to put one in the net.  Nice goal Angela!  That was probably the hardest I've seen you kick a ball.  Our biggest problem was not using both sides of the field.  We kept pushing and passing up the right side where it was quite congested.  The left side of the field was wide open to attack so we need better recognition of that.

Ellie don't worry about the goal against us.  Defensive breakdown cost us there. We'll get them next time!

Game 1

Strikers 1   Lake Wylie 0

The season got off on the right foot (pun intended) with a victory.  The coaches appreciate it.  Sometimes I wonder if we are teaching you ladies anything.  Congrats to Lynn on the first goal of the year.  Hopefully, there are many more to come.  The effort was outstanding and everyone did a good job trying to find a teammate with a pass.  We crossed the ball well and really had Lake Wylie on their heels the entire game.  One of our strengths is the ability to push the ball up the field in a relentless attack and  keep applying pressure to the opponent's defense.  Eventually, we will break through with a goal.  Good job girls!  Next game is Saturday, Apr. 2 at 11:10 at Turner Field.  Hope to see everyone there.
